Osthole is a substance extracted from the fruit of the annual herb Cnidium chinensis of Umbelliferae. The appearance is yellow-green to white crystalline powder, insoluble in water and cold petroleum ether, easily soluble in acetone, methanol, ethanol, chloroform , chloroform, ethyl acetate, soluble in boiling petroleum ether, has antispasmodic, lowering blood pressure, antiarrhythmic, enhancing immune function and broad-spectrum antibacterial effects.
